Fernandez and Torres families of Ponce
« on: July 05, 2010, 03:33:05 PM »
My mother came from Concepcion Fernandez daughter of Librada Colon and Ramon Fernandez; her father was Vincente Fernandez but he told his wife's name instead of keeping his mother's name of Torres, [Maximina]. The 1910 US Federal Census has Conception as a daughter of Librada and Ramon with two brothers, but by 1920 the Mother and brothers are gone. I can trace her and Ramon, I believe, through immigration records to NY from PR separately but in no other records. I would like to know what happened to Librada and the sons, since it was Spanish Influenza time and WW I time and their family broke up for some reason.  Does anyone out there know of this family from Ponce?

Have you tried looking in the pCensoredenger manifest of the some of the ships that traveled to and from Puerto Rico during that time. They usually gave a from and to address, this might help you find out some information.
You can check the records via Ancestry.com I hope this helps.
